Sandstorm Kenya is a classic example of growth and evolution of a business.

Currently it is well known for its quality canvas and leather bags, however their story started over 20 years ago. Initially it started making luxury safari tents for camps across East Africa along with safari chairs, custom seat covers and canopies for safari vehicles.  As the business grew more off cut material was being produced, the need to put that into use lead to the birth of their first bags.

The demand for the bags increased hence they needed to purchase more material to sustain production, soon enough the bags replaced the tents as the heart of their business. Most of their material is sourced in Kenya, the leather comes from a tannery in Athi River, lining fabric and canvas are woven in Thika and the  brass from artisans in Nairobi. The first stand alone retail store they opened was in Village market in 2007, from there more have followed and now they are in six locations in the country.

Sandstorm Kenya bags stand for quality, style and reliability. Part of meeting the risen demand meant that they needed to open an online store that reaches customers outside Nairobi and Kenya. Once they opened an online store, they sourced for a payment service gateway that would provide a smooth checkout on the payment process. The seamless payment process enables them to focus on delivering their bags to happy customers all over Kenya.

As a business, being able to keep track of your sales performance and an easy sales reconciliation system is key. They are grateful for the Pesapal’s merchant account as it enables them to achieve these two and more. Their inspiration each day as the business grows is to continue producing durable and quality bags that always make their customers happy.

For businesses out there it is important to provide your customers with various payments solutions that gives them a variety of options.
