A Leader In Every Child School: Kinderville Junior School

On 9 September 2019

The foundation years of a child are the most critical part of their life.

This is why it is important to ensure that your child is in the right hands in terms of school and at home.  A child is like clay they can be molded to become a person of character or a vicious one. Kinderville Junior school exists to enable children to explore their full potential wholesomely. Every child is gifted in different ways and these include: books, sports, leadership etc. We had a sit-down with Sylvia Kamotho, The Director of the school and this is what she had to say:

What is your personal mantra?

She believes that education should take care of the whole child and this includes taking care of their mind, their body and their spirit.

What is the School’s mantra?

Constantly providing learning experiences that nurture each child to reach their potential. Some of the opportunities they provide include: co-curricular activities, leadership, strong Christian foundation as well as encouraging them to pursue academic excellence.

What is your vision/ end goal?

The end in mind is to teach the curriculum, to coach the children to be leaders, to train them in the ways of God in partnership with their parents so that they can excel in life, art and music to enable them to make a lasting impact in the world.

What is one Unique thing about Kinderville?

We have an emotional bank account for every learner. These are jars that each learner has that are put somewhere in the classes with their names on it. In this jar, each learner has the duty of writing something positive about another person and putting the note  inside the jar at the end of each day. This acts as a gratitude journal because it teaches our children to always learn to look at the positive side of things in life. Truth is that life can be hard sometimes but we have the power to set our minds to be optimistic.

What is the school’s relationship with parents?

Parents are the largest shareholders in the school that is why we treat them with the respect that is due them. We work closely together so as to ensure that the children get the best of both worlds that is while they are in school and at home. Another way we partner with them is in terms of making payments.

Exactly how do you partner with them in this way?

Pesapal has given us a platform where parents can make payments to the school in a fast, secure and convenient way. The Pesapal Sabi terminal has provided the parents with varied payment options which include credit and debit cards as well as Mpesa. That way the parents can pay the fees in whichever way they are most comfortable with.

Nuggets of Wisdom from Sylvia

As the founder of the school, I strongly believe that every child has potential and every learner has something great in them. The role of the school is to help them discover who they are and what they can do with their gifts.

Parting Shot

Sylvia believes that every child has genius in them. It makes her sad that in the society we are living in we celebrate only a few people whom we think are gifted but in Kinderville Junior School they celebrate every learner because they believe that each one of them is a leader who has great potential to make the world a better place to live in.
