For a long while many people in Kenya would shy away from investing in interior decor as more often than not it would cost an arm and a leg. Pesapal had a conversation with one such entrepreneur called Juliana Mbithi who is the founder of Home.Decor254 and this is what she had to say about her business story.

Pesapal: What was the main idea behind your business?

Juliana: The main idea behind our business is being able to provide products that are good, quality, affordable and unique to the market in Kenya  and also within East Africa. 

Pesapal: What is your area of specialty?

Juliana: Our business mainly deals with home decor products and interior design services.

Pesapal: How did you think about starting Home.Decor 254?

Juliana: I have always had a passion for home decor but originally I would only do it in my house. As I grew in that skill my friends began to request me to help them style their houses and I can say that it was the beginning of my interior design business. Through the encouragement that I received from my partner and friends I was able to start after some time and it is one of the best decisions I made. So far it has been good.

Pesapal: As an entrepreneur in Kenya what has been your greatest challenge so far?

Juliana: My greatest challenge so far has been lack of enough capital to be able to meet the high demand that we normally have. It is because of this that we struggle at times to provide the products that we offer to our clients. 

Pesapal: When did you come across Pesapal?

Juliana: I came across Pesapal in 2016 when I was conducting research on financial sector in Kenya. Pesapal popped up as one of the leading payment service providers but I did not understand in detail exactly what they were doing. It was until recently when my partner and I were looking for how we would incorporate the credit card payment option in our business that we did in-depth research about Pesapal. We wanted to ensure that all our customers were comfortable and were able to shop conveniently.

Juliana: Good thing is that we have been able to offer our customers an unforgettable shopping experience because Pesapal is easy to use and it is secure. 

Pesapal: As we wind up, if you were to go back in time, what advice would you give to your younger self?

Juliana: I would advise myself to always ensure that I am passionate about something before I start it. It makes it easier for you to keep holding on to your business in tough times if it is something that you are passionate about.
